2025: Stacking the odds in my favour
Less than 10% of people actually achieve their New Year's Goals. This year, as I celebrate 27 laps around the sun, I’ve decided to challenge myself with a list of 27 hopes and goals to prioritize in the upcoming year.
The basis of this list is the theory of ego depletion, which suggests that willpower may be a finite resource that is depleted with excessive or repetitive usage of self-control. Keeping this in mind, I have tried to make my 2025 ambitions smaller than I might normally in the hopes that more manageable changes might push me into that 10% of successful people.
My list is also inspired by Kaizen, the Japanese philosophy of continuous improvement. They believe that implementing small changes now will lead to larger-scale changes in the future. I’ve decided to adopt this philosophy believing that small wins throughout this year can compound into bigger wins in years to come.
I’m sharing my approach & list in order to create a relationship of accountability between me and whoever may read this, & hopefully, it may even help someone with setting their own goals for 2025.
